I established this company after being busted by acute leukemia, with no savings and minus health in 2004. All I had and my parents and relatives had was spent on my chemotherapy, total body radiation and bone marrow transplantation. I had had a dream to establish a travel company but busy life made me dizzy with other activties. Even though I had registered the name "Mogul Travel" back in 2001 with Tax Authority of Mongolia, I had not started any operation. Once the transplantation clinical trial which allowed free treatment, drug and follow up care was over, I came back in Mongolia and took a website training. Little did I know it was an advanced crash training course and I understood nothing from it. Wondering how dumb I was, later I read Dreamweaver manual and built my first website. Now I think how in the world I was supposed to understand the advanced course. Now we have this website which is only as good as I am or my small staff are. There are many imperfections which hopefully will be cleared along the way. Besides running this travel activity, I am somestimes called by other organzations who want to hire me for a week or 2 long project. I reduced the number to only one, Mongolian Press Insttitute. Tour dates for 2008: from May 10 until October 29 | day | Tour | Tour description | Place | Meal | | 1 | Ulaanbaatar | Arrival in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel. | H | D | | 2 | Erdenet city | On asphalt paved road drive north to Erdenet (Treasures) city. The city was called so because many types of metals were found in its soil. Today one of the 10 biggest copper mines in the world operates here. A city was built based on the mine which extracts molybdenum besides copper and as usual, other metals are found in the copper ore of this area, such as gold. Interestingly this mine contributes more than half the state budget. Yet, with verdant hills just next to buildings and apartment buildings and milder, thus friendlier, climate than Ulaanbaatar, this is considered a very neat city in Mongolia. We’ll just go trough this city and pitch our camp at some distance from the city (390 km, 8 hrs). | ТGC | BLD | | 3 | Bulgan Uran uul | We are in the Khangai Region which is very green. Driving by the dead volcano Mt Tulga Togoo (Hearth), Jalavch, Uran Uul (Elegant), we’ll drive to Tosontsengel soum in Hovsgol province and pitch camp. Lake Hovsgol, we are heading for, is in Hovsgol province in the north of Mongolia. Overnight in tent near Mongolia hometown family. Driving distance: 290 km, 7 hrs. | T | BLD | | 4 | Tosontsengel | Drive to Tosontsengel province of Huvsgul aimag. We’ll visit to hometown family. Overnight in tent near nomadic family. | T | BLD | | 5 | Huvsgul | Going through Moron city, we’ll reach our ger camp on the bank of the beautiful Lake Hovsgol and rest for the day. Imagine a lake with crystal clear water you can see through down to 24 m depth. With 99 rivers and creeks coming down from the surrounding mountains not touched by man and only one Eg River going out from it, the lake holds 1% of world’s fresh water. Mongols living on land with scarce water and harsh climate of Central Asia have been calling this lake Mother Ocean. But the lake is only 134 x 39 km in size and is at 1624m attitude above sea level. Powerful shamans have been living among the people of this area. Driving distance: 190 km, 5 hrs. | TGC | BLD | | 6 | Huvsgul | Today we’ll horse tour to the tsaatan (reindeer people), visit them in their teepees and chat with them. They live in teepees and follow the reindeer throughout the year. | TGC | BLD | | 7 | Huvsgul | Visit a nomadic family and see how the dairy products are made. Dairy products have been a major part of Mongolian diet. A product specific to Mongols is the dried curds produced from milk. These products can be stored for years, and become part of festive tables. Also Mongolian traditional alcohol is produced from milk. And we’ll drive Yak car. Overnight ger camp. | TGC | BLD | | 8 | Shine ider province | Now we’ll hit the road to Shine ider province Erchim Mountain ranges south of Moron city (180 km, 4 hrs) and have tented camping in the evening. | T | BLD | | 9 | Terhiin tsagaan lake | In the morning, our tour will continue northward (170 km, 4 hrs) toward Mt Khorgo by the lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. Lava from the Khorgo volcano blocked the path of waters coming down the Khangai mountains and created the clear water lake. It has many types of fish including the pike and is home to rare birds. Overnight in ger camp. | TGC | BLD | | 10 | Tsenher hot spa | Today we’ll drive (230 km, 7 hrs) to Tsenher (Blue) hotspring where we’ll relax in the hotspa and stay for the night. Nice hiking environment. Overnight in ger camp. | TGC | BLD | | 11 | Karkorum, Erdene zuu monastery | After breakfast at the hotspa, drive to Karakorum (120 km, 3 hrs). Karakorum, established in 1220 and the capital of the empire for 140 years, is nestled in the fertile Khangai region in the center of the country. It was the center of Mongol Empire until Khublai Khaan moved his capital to Beijing and was destroyed by the invading army of Min Dynasty in 1380. In 1586 was built Erdene Zuu monastery, to one tenth the original size of Karakorum, on the site in 1586 under the order of Abtai San Khan, a distant relative of Chinggis Khaan. The magnificent walls of the monastery, studded with 108 stupas, are a poignant reminder of the former wealth and importance of the area. During its peak period of activity, this flourishing monastery housed over 100 temples and 1000 lamas. Today, it remains a sacred place of worship for Mongolians and a center for traditional arts, sculpture and embroidery. Today we’ll visit the monastery. Overnight in ger camp of Karakorum. | TGC | BLD | | 12 | Elsentasarhai | Drive to Elsen Tasarkhai (100 km, ~2 hrs).
