|1||Ulaanbaatar||Arrival day. Transfer to hotel. City tour and visit Zaisan hill to get a panoramic view of the city. Visit Natural History Museum.||H||D|
|2||Drive Zorgol khairhan M.t and Baga gazryn chuluu||In the morning, drive to beautiful Mt Zorgol Hairhan where we’ll have lunch. Then we’ll move to Sum Huh Burd, a little oasis in Middle Gobi aimag, and Baga Gazryn Chuluu where we’ll check in at a ger camp. At Sum Huh Burd gather many waterbirds, horses stand in water to cool, and camels roam around. Visit the ruin of a temple built by flat rocks. Various legends are told about this temple ruin. No where near is to be found the flat rocks, thus it’s uncertain how these were brought here in the first place without any mechanical device. At Baga Gazryn Chuluu, make sure you get up early as argali, the wild sheep, may have come down to the water just few hundred meters away. (250 km, 6hrs)||ТGC||B L D|
|3||Ikh gazryn chuluu||Visit Ikh gazryn Chuluu (160 km, 3 hrs). This place is surreal, perfect for a peaceful getaway, hiking, exploring the nature. If you spot argalis, they’ll proudly run away among the rocks faster than horses.||T||B L D|
|4||Tsagaan Suvarga||We’ll move today deeper into Gobi to the south. In the evening, we’ll check in at ger camp in Tsagaan Suvarga (White Shhrines), one of the picturesque places in Middle Gobi (210 km, 5 hrs). Just 30 km’s away from here you can find rock paintings left from the Bronze age.||TGC||B L D|
|5||Yoliin am||Finally we reach the southern most point of our travel today and check in at the tent nestled among the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan mountains. Visit Yol Valley (alternative names: Vulture Gorge/Eagle’s Peak) home to wildlife such as ibex, argali (wild sheep), wolves, vultures, and more. (Bring binoculars just in case). There is also a small glacier that remains frozen even during summer. Visit a nomadic family. Overnight tent in Yoliin am. Driving: 190 km, 4-5 hrs||T||B L D|
|6||Flaming cliffs and Hongoriin els||Drive to Bayanzag where Roy Chapman Andrews found the first ever remains of a nest of dinosaur eggs. In this area we can also see Saxaul trees, which are indigenous to this area of the world. Drive further Hongor els to the west and check in to a ger camp. Hongor Els or the Singing Dunes is the biggest sand dune in Gobi reaching up to 200m. Because the shifting sand blown by the wind makes sound, it was called Singing Dunes by the local inhabitants. Here we’ll spend the rest of the day exploring area by riding camel riding. Includes B,L,D. Offroad driving 250 km, 5 hrs. |7||Ongiin monastery||We’ll start heading north from today. Visit Ongiin Khiid monastery and rest at the tent near nomadic family. 275 km, 5-6 km.||T||B L D|
|8||Karkorum||Today we’ll drive to Karakorum (250 km, 5-6 hrs) established in 1220 and the capital of the empire for 140 years, is nestled in the fertile Khangai region in the center of the country. It was the center of Mongol Empire until Khubilai Khaan moved his capital to Beijing. Erdene Zuu monastery, one tenth the original size of Karakorum, was built on the site in 1586 under the order of Abtai San Khan, a distant relative of Chinggis Khaan. Today, it remains a sacred place of worship for Mongolians and a center for traditional arts, sculpture and embroidery. Overnignt in ger camp.||TGC||B L D|
