Visit Flaming Cliffs where the first dinosaur bones were found, the glacier in Gobi, Siniging Dunes, Karakorum, Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan, Lake Khuvsgul (Hovsgol) called Mongolia’s blue pearl and many more… This trip can be customized to fit your needs. Possible alternative routes are marked by dotted line. If you prefer to spend more days in any certain destination but not in another, these alternatives should be the start.
Day 1. Arrival day. Transfer to hotel. City tour and visit Zaisan hill to get a panoramic view of the city. Visit Natural History Museum. Dinner.
Day 2. Drive to Amarbayasgalant monastery (350 km, paved road). Check in ger camp. Visit the monastery. B L D (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Day 3. Drive to Uran Uul. Check in ger camp. (from here daily drive is about 250km, offroad). B L D
Day 4. Drive to Ih Uul. Check in ger camp. B L D
Day 5. Drive to Huvsgul lake. We will reach the lake probably in the evening. Chek in ger camp. Optional activities: boating, horse riding (5-8 USD per hour). B L D
Day 6. Another day at serene Huvsgul lake. B L D
Day 7. Drive to Shine Ider. B L D
Day 8. In the morning, our tour will continue southward toward Mt Khorgo by the lake Terkhiin Tsagaan. Lava from the Khorgo volcano blocked the path of waters coming down the Khangai mountains and created the clear water lake. It has many types of fish including the pike and is home to rare birds. Folk performance in the evening. Overnight in ger camp. Dinner at camp. Mt Khorgo close to the Terkiin Tsagaan lake. B L D
Day 9. Another day in Terkhiin Tsagaan. Optional activity: horse riding. B L D
Day 10. Visit Tsenher hotspa, relax. As the going from Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan to Karakorum in one day requires rigorous driving we are staying here for a night. Rest in the hotspa. B L D
Day 11. Today we’ll drive to Karakorum (250 km, 5-6 hrs) established in 1220 and the capital of the empire for 140 years, is nestled in the fertile Khangai region in the center of the country. It was the center of Mongol Empire until Khubilai Khaan moved his capital to Beijing. Erdene Zuu monastery, one tenth the original size of Karakorum, was built on the site in 1586 under the order of Abtai San Khan, a distant relative of Chinggis Khaan. Overnight in ger camp. B L D
Day 12. Drive south, to Ongiid khiid monastery. Check in ger camp. Visit the monastery. B L D
Day 13. Drive to Hongor els, sand dunes. 6 hrs. Camel riding. Hiking at the dunes. B L D

Lake Hovsgol (Huvsgul)
Day 14. Drive to Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs) where Roy Chapman Andrews found the first ever remains of a nest of dinosaur eggs. Drive further to a ger camp close to Yol valley. B L D
Day 15. Visit Yol valley (Eagle cliff). Visit natural museum. Drive to Tsagaan suvarga. B L D
Day 16. Drive to Baga gazryn Chuluu . check in ger camp. B L D
Day 17. Drive to Ulaanbaatar. Shopping. Folk art performance. Farewell dinner. B L D
Day 18. breakfast at hotel. Departure.
Optional activities: if you want to ride horses the price is 5 USD per hour usually or 15 USD per day. Most ger camps offer this service. Canoeing (5 USD/hr), biking (5 USD/hr) is possible at Lake Hovsgol (Khuvsgul).
